The word avatar originates from Sanskrit, derived from the term avatāra (अवतार), which means "descent" or "incarnation." In Hindu mythology, an avatar refers to the earthly incarnation of a deity, most commonly associated with the god Vishnu, who descends to Earth in various forms (e.g., Rama, Krishna) to restore balance, combat evil, or fulfill a divine purpose. The term combines ava ("down") and tāra ("to cross or descend"), emphasizing a divine being taking on a physical or mortal form. In Project Avatar, this divine being is you.
